A New Journey

Hi everyone! I wanted to write a quick introduction in hopes of connecting with other moms/dads going through similar journeys. Our fourth son was diagnosed shortly after birth with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, mild in his left ear and moderate in his right. We also found out through genetic testing that his hearing loss is the result of Pendred's Syndrome and with most likely be progressive. The first few weeks following his diagnosis were very emotional. We felt shocked, angry, confused, sad, and scared for what our son's life would look like. We listened to our audiologist, ENT, and pediatrician and immediately got our son aided and began speech therapy. No one mentioned ASL.
